The Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) officially announced on Saturday that Moroccan coach Adel Ramzi has been appointed as assistant coach of the senior Dutch national team. Ramzi, who possesses extensive experience at both club and international levels, will strengthen the coaching staff under the new head coach, Spanish football icon Xavi Hernández.
The appointment follows the recent departure of Ronald Koeman, who was dismissed after the Netherlands' disappointing quarter-final exit against Morocco at the 2026 World Cup. The match ended in a 2-1 defeat for the Netherlands and marked an early end to their campaign, prompting the KNVB to implement a major restructuring of the coaching staff.

Xavi Hernández, who recently took charge of the national team, indicated that Ramzi will play a crucial role in developing the tactical approach and strengthening the defensive organization. "Adel brings a unique blend of international experience and a sharp understanding of the game, something that will certainly benefit our team," Hernández said in a press release.
"I am honored to be part of this project and look forward to working with Xavi and the players to take the next step for Dutch football," said Ramzi.
With these changes, the KNVB hopes to give a fresh impetus to a team that recently experienced disappointing results, preparing them for the upcoming qualification rounds and international tournaments.
