Yassine Bounou has added another individual award to his collection. The Moroccan goalkeeper of Al Hilal has been named the best keeper in the Saudi Pro League for the month of August.
Strong Start to the New Season
Bounou played every minute of the opening four league matches of the 2026/27 season. In total, the 35-year-old goalkeeper stood between the posts for 360 minutes for Al Hilal.
His performances contributed to a perfect start to the campaign for the Riyadh-based club. Al Hilal won all four matches, conceding only three goals during that period.
Furthermore, Bounou kept two clean sheets, achieving this against Al Fayha and Al Ahli. The Moroccan international thus played a crucial role in maintaining his team's defensive stability.
Al Hilal Dominates Monthly Awards
Bounou was not the only Al Hilal player honored in August. His Portuguese teammate Rúben Neves was named Player of the Month.
Neves contributed two goals and two assists in the first four matchdays. Al Hilal scored fifteen goals and conceded just three across those four fixtures.
The other monthly awards went to Al Nassr manager Ange Postecoglou and Hamed Al Shanqiti of Al Kholood, who was recognized as the Promising Player of the Month.
Renewed Recognition for Bounou
This latest accolade is not a first for Bounou in Saudi Arabia. The Moroccan goalkeeper has previously been named Goalkeeper of the Month on multiple occasions, including wins in October 2025 and May 2026.
Since moving from Sevilla to Al Hilal in 2023, Bounou has established himself as an indispensable figure in the Saudi powerhouse's goal. His latest individual prize confirms that he remains one of the standout performers in the league as the 2026/27 season gets underway.
Perfect League Start
After four matchdays, Al Hilal boasts a maximum points tally. The club also holds the best attacking record in the competition with fifteen goals scored.
Bounou has thus made a commanding start to a new campaign in Saudi Arabia, with the August Goalkeeper of the Month award marking yet another milestone in his successful stint at Al Hilal.
